Leeds two piece The Old Romantic Killer Band are a ferocious new act who are equal parts Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Son House and Ryan Adams, with a mutual love of punk, blues, country and aggressive live shows. By punk, we must use the word traditionally; as you won’t catch this two-piece playing simple power-chord rock, but punk in the sense that they are trying to take an old formula combined with a new outlook to create something that defies genre and expectations.

Singer Harry Johns harbours a healthy obsession with the American delta blues and British revivalist folk records, favouring artists such as Son House and Nick Drake over the current wave of Indie haircut nonsense. Drummer Greg Holland, on the other hand, relies on a heavy dose of 80s Hardcore and heavy metal for his main inspiration behind his kit. The mergence of such a diverse collection tastes creates the unique sound of The Old Romantic Killer Band, a catchy yet aggressive mix of folk, punk and blues to party to as well as emote with.

Their third live show was an official showcase gig at In the City in Manchester and from there they picked up early plays from Xfm’s Jon Kennedy and landed a slot at the prestigious Nasty Fest in Leeds, where they headlined the second stage. Already becoming synonymous with spectacular, visceral live shows usually culminating in chaos as members climb any speaker stack and defy any attempt at separating crowd and artist in sight, the band have already completed a full UK tour to coincide with debut release “You Don’t Know How To Love” but with constant demand for them to play its proven impossible to keep them off the stage and you can catch them in various venues of The North – check their live dates here.

Debut single ‘You Don’t Know How To Love’ is the fresh blues-tinged debut from The Old Romantic Killer Band and is available on iTunes, independent record shops across the country and from the Bad Sneakers Store.

Second single Lover’s Pass is due to be released on October 27th, the first from their upcoming debut album The Swan With Two Necks. Get the track first for free by signing up to their mailing list here.

"Resurrected from the charred ashes of everything that was great about music in the past 30 years: the energy of DC hardcore bands, the meanness of rockabilly, the sheer coolness of Nick Cave, the power chords of the Ramones and the hair of a thousand eagles? This load ass two piece will quite literally blow your tiny minds." - In the City 2007

"Down at BEDLAM the place is packed for the incredibly noisy OLD ROMANTIC KILLER BAND who hammer out punk fuelled chords and enough decibels to mask the landing approach of a 747." - Some online ItC Review 2007

"The sound of now - They’re part singer-songwriter and part lo-fi toe-tappers, though thankfully, they’ve left the nu-rave revival out of the mix, making them three quarters zeitgeist and one quarter sense." - BBC Manchester 2007
